Mindfulness practice has brought me, like many others, a potent antidote to stress and anxiety.
It has been found to heal depression and is recommended as the treatment of choice by NICE (the National Institute for Clinical Excellence).
It can heal addictive behaviour.
It may reduce ageing.
It improves heart and circulatory disease.
Very basic training in mindfulness can dramatically reduce pain ratings of unpleasantness (by 51%) and intensity (by 40%).
A growing number of businesses are recognising what mindfulness has to offer. One these is Transport for London. Their programme found that the participants reported a 74% fall in the number of days taken off because of stress, anxiety and depression; 84% said they related better; 82% have increased the amount of exercise they do, and 54% have improved their sleeping patterns.
